U4GM PoE 2 Tips Best Return of Ancients Starters

Starting a fresh league in Path of Exile 2 is always a bit of a gamble. If you pick something too slow, you spend the first weekend crawling through zones while everyone else is already stacking PoE 2 Currency and filling their stash tabs. The better starter is the one that feels decent with rubbish gear, keeps moving, and does not fall over the moment a rare mob sneezes in your direction. That is why people keep circling back to builds that can clear early maps without needing a huge budget or a ten-step shopping list.

Fast clears without feeling paper-thin
The strongest starters right now are the ones that can wipe packs fast and still take a hit. Big lightning chains, wide fire bursts, and other screen-sized spells are doing a lot of the heavy lifting. You feel it straight away. Packs disappear, loot drops, and you are already moving to the next screen. But speed alone is not enough. If a build only works while everything dies off-camera, it is going to feel awful once bosses start throwing out real damage. The good ones build in some breathing room, so you are not one bad crit away from a trip back to town.

Why Energy Shield keeps showing up
One thing a lot of players keep noticing is how well Energy Shield fits these spell-heavy setups. It gives you that extra buffer that life-only characters often miss in the early climb. You can take a slam, recover, and keep playing instead of staring at the death screen. That matters even more when your build is meant to farm quickly and then pivot into boss fights later on. The nice part is that you do not have to lock yourself into expensive gear from day one. Most of the time, a decent rare on the ground will do the job until you start swapping in stronger pieces at your own pace.

Gear choices and a real movement change
There is a bit of a twist, though. A lot of these casters really start to shine when you accept the new WASD movement setup. At first, it feels strange. You miss the old rhythm, and your hands keep trying to play the game the old way. Then it clicks. Suddenly you are steering cleanly, dodging more often, and keeping your spells aimed where they matter. That matters a lot in hectic maps. Add in a piece like Atziri's Diadem when you can afford it, and the whole setup starts to feel smoother, with better sustain and more room to scale.

What makes the start feel worth it
The reason this style keeps getting recommended is simple: it pays off in more than one way. You get fast mapping, decent boss damage, and a build that does not demand perfect items just to function. That makes the early grind less of a chore. You can farm, trade, and upgrade without feeling trapped in a weak setup. If you want to keep the momentum going and maybe grab some PoE 2 Currency for sale when you need a quick boost, this kind of character gives you the sort of foundation that actually makes the rest of the league feel manageable.
